Mission Statement: |
| To give quality, personalized service to each member according to his/her financial need is the Credit Union's basic purpose. That need will be met in an efficient, cost-effective professional manner. Through prudent financial management, creation of a safe and sound institution with fair and equal benefit for all membership will be achieved.
Income generated will be used to enhance the Credit Union's growth and expand competitive services to help other member's as we become a family of "people helping people." On a continual basis, the Credit Union's staff, committees and Board of Directors will responsibly dedicate themselves to the above statement. |
| In January, 1950, city employees organized and pooled their money. Soon they had enough for loans. From that small beginning Abilene FCU has grown to 16.9 million dollars in assets. We serve approximately 3,300 members. Each account is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration up to $250,000. |
The best thing about Credit Unions is that they are member owned -- meaning you own a portion of AFCU. Unlike other financial institutions, there are no stock holders to retain profits. The income is returned back to AFCU so we can offer lower rates on loans and pay higher dividends on your shares.
